"The results of 2023 and the growth of the company in all the regions where we operate confirm the strength of our strategy," said José Orlandini, president of SONDA. “A significant part of this strategy has been the verticalization or specialization of our professionals in different types of industries. The knowledge we have today in transport, retail, smart cities, mining, health, and banking, to name a few industries, gives us a unique stamp. This, combined with constant innovation, allows us to develop very competitive technological solutions that generate real transformation for our clients and improve the quality of life for people,” added Orlandini.
During 2023, SONDA continued to secure significant contracts in various countries. In transport, for example, it enabled a contactless payment system with credit, debit, and prepaid cards in the Panama Metro. In Colombia, specifically in Cartagena, it won the contract for the installation, implementation, and operation of collection equipment in stations and buses, and in Medellín, the implementation of card-loading machines throughout the city's Metro network. In Brazil, it signed a contract to provide technological services to Petrobras in the operation of a data center, while in Ecuador, it managed the system for the Corporación Eléctrica del Ecuador (CELEC), the main company for energy generation and distribution in Ecuador.
In Chile, SONDA secured several contracts. Among them, one with the Municipality of Vitacura for the implementation of a management platform for response and security coordination, managing alerts from surveillance cameras, sensors, telephony, and mobile applications, among others. Additionally, with CODELCO, it won the Service Maintenance contract for communication systems and other equipment at the operations of the world's leading copper mining company.
On the another hand, the technology integrator announced that Marcelo Castiglione, an executive with over 20 years of professional development at SONDA in various regional and country level roles, will assume the position of Chief Executive Officer, effective March 1, 2024, replacing Luis Alberto de la Cruz. Luis, after a distinguished career at the company, is leaving SONDA to pursue other professional activities. Marcelo Castiglione will report to the board and directly to President José Orlandini.
“In 2024, our focus will be on continue growing in the development and integration of technological solutions, which implies permanent innovation. Today we have a robust startup ecosystem of more than 60 startups from around the world and a team specialized in different industries, making us a highly competitive player. There is a high demand for technology in both the public and private sectors, which means multiple opportunities, especially in the United States and now also in Canada, a country where we began operations in 2023, in line with our strategy for geographic expansion,” said José Orlandini.
